We help students build reading comprehension skills and confidence, leaving frustration and tears behind.
Your child may be able to read the words but still struggles to understand, explain, or apply what they’ve read. At Achieve Learning Partners, we teach students how to think while they read using proven, skill-based strategies. Students learn to read like detectives, actively searching for details, clues, and meaning.
All of our classes are live and teacher-led (not a computer program). Your child learns in real time with a kind, experienced educator who provides encouragement, feedback, and support in the comfort of your own home (not driving here and there).
Level 1 (Grades 2-3) - Coming Soon

Become a Reading Detective is a high-quality, parent-trusted, results-driven program designed to help students become confident readers. In just 45 focused minutes a week, your child works with a kind, caring teacher in a small-group setting to build essential reading skills and confidence. We’ve helped hundreds of students learn how to understand what they read, and we’d love to help your child do the same.
As students transition from learning to read to reading to learn, they often struggle with understanding what they read. In our LEVEL ONE BECOME A READING DETECTIVE CLASS, we help your child read more fluently, decode new words, comprehend, and think about what they are reading.
In class, we cover the reading comprehension skills necessary to become successful readers, including locating details, identifying the main idea, sequencing events, recognizing character traits, utilizing context clues, and inferring information.
To ensure students are learning the skills necessary for success, we use the Common Core State Standards.
As students grow as readers, many find themselves needing extra support to understand what they read fully. In our LEVEL TWO BECOME A READING DETECTIVE CLASS, we help students build confidence and stronger comprehension skills to keep up with the more challenging texts.
In class, we work on improving fluency, learning new vocabulary, and making sense of what they read through guided practice and discussion. We focus on the reading comprehension skills necessary for reading success, including finding key details, main idea, understanding character traits, using context clues to figure out new words, making thoughtful inferences based on the text and more.
Our instruction is aligned with the Common Core State Standards to ensure students are developing the reading skills they need for success in school.
As students enter upper elementary and middle school, reading becomes more demanding and expectations increase across all subjects. Students are asked to read longer, more complex texts and think more deeply about what they read. In our LEVEL THREE BECOME A READING DETECTIVE CLASS, we support students as they build stronger comprehension, confidence, and independence as readers.
In class, instruction focuses on strengthening fluency, expanding vocabulary, and developing a deeper understanding of both fiction and nonfiction texts. Students practice identifying key ideas and supporting details, analyzing characters and themes, understanding text structure, using context clues, and making inferences supported by evidence.
Our instruction is aligned with the Common Core State Standards, helping students develop the reading skills they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
And Don't Just Take Our Word For It
The curriculum is well structured and the goal of each class is very clear. My 3rd-grade daughter loves the class, and I love the detailed feedback the teacher provides on her progress.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but really tired of seeing my son struggle. After the first class, he shared with me that he had already learn a few things to help him. He even asked when the next class was. That was a huge win. His last STAR testing showed a growth of over a year. Thank You!
Who doesn't love solving mysteries? This program has really helped our son begin to read for understanding. He loved reading graphic novels, but with other books, he did not comprehend what he was reading and would fail the AR tests at school. He is reading now and passing his AR tests. He actually asked to join Achieve's book club and is loving it!

Grades 3–5: 45 minutes
Grades 5–7: 45 minutes
We’ve thoughtfully designed our session lengths based on years of teaching experience and what we’ve seen works best for students. We know it is the quality of instruction, not the length of time taught.
Younger learners benefit from shorter, highly engaging lessons, while older students learn best in focused, skill-based sessions that allow time for discussion and practice.
We have found these times to be optimal for students' focus and optimal learning.
To ensure every student receives individualized attention, our classes are intentionally kept small.
Our level 1 classes are capped at 5 students, and our level 2 and 3 classes are capped at 8 students. These small group classes allow teachers to provide meaningful feedback, encourage participation, and support each child’s learning needs.
Our classes are intentionally kept small, because we’ve found that small-group learning offers powerful benefits that 1-to-1 instruction alone cannot.
Many students feel more comfortable learning alongside peers than being the sole focus of a lesson. Small groups reduce pressure, increase participation, and help students see that learning challenges are shared, leading to greater confidence and growth.
In small groups, students:
Learn from hearing peers ask questions and share ideas
Build confidence by realizing they’re not alone
Practice explaining their thinking out loud
Stay motivated through interaction and discussion
At the same time, our teachers are able to provide individual feedback, guidance, and encouragement—without the pressure some students feel in a one-to-one setting.
This balance of personalized support and peer learning helps students grow as confident, independent readers.
Our program runs year-round, and students can join at any time. Because every child’s reading needs are different, the length of time in the program varies from student to student. We regularly share progress updates and recommendations, so you always know how your child is growing and when the next steps make sense.
Many families begin to notice small but meaningful changes within the first few weeks of classes, such as increased confidence, stronger participation, or your child explaining their thinking more clearly. Deeper reading comprehension skills build over time with consistent practice. Unfortunately, we do not have a magic wand, but we do have the experience and desire to help your child meet their learning goals.
A quiet space to learn.
Our optional Reading Detective Notebook for taking notes. This will be sent to you upon registration.
We teach PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS and want the students to know that the more they practice, the better they will get.
After each class, we provide additional practice to review the skills learned. These are optional and do not need to be returned to us. However, students who complete the additional practice typically progress more quickly, so we encourage the practice. Answer keys are provided so you can see where your child still needs assistance.
We realize that things come up; if your child cannot attend, class recordings are available, and they will also receive the additional class practice. Students can also transfer to another class time during the week so they do not miss out on the live instruction.
